Spring Weekend Full of Exciting Athletic Events at Princeton

Fans of Princeton athletics will have numerous opportunities to catch some of our spring sports teams at home during a busy April weekend. Half of the 16 spring varsity athletics programs will sport the Orange and Black this weekend on the friendly confines of the Princeton University campus. Here is your guide to all of the thrilling events this weekend has to offer at Princeton!
Men's and Women's Track and Field - Weaver Track
April 7 - 5:00 pm
April 8 - 12:00 pm
Sam Howell Invitational
Princeton hosts the annual Sam Howell Invitational this weekend, beginning on Friday with evening events, including the discus and long distance races, under the lights of Weaver Track. The following day, come to check out the new, state of the art Class of 1952 Indoor Scoreboard and The Easton Family Outdoor Scoreboard as they are unveiled, followed by a day full of exhilarating, must see events on this final day of the invitational!
Men's Tennis - Lenz Tennis Center
April 7 - 2 pm vs. Brown University
April 8 - 12 pm vs. Yale University
Head out to the Lenz Tennis Center as the Princeton men's tennis team opens its home Ivy schedule in a battle against Brown on Friday. Then on Saturday, the Tigers look to upend the 73rd ranked Yale Bulldogs in an afternoon affair.
Women's Open Crew - Lake Carnegie
April 8 - 9 am vs. Radcliffe and Cornell
The No. 1 Princeton women's open crew moved to 5-0 on the young season with a sweep of Rutgers, Columbia and Georgetown last Saturday at Lake Carnegie. Princeton will return home this weekend to compete for the Class of '75 Cup against Radcliffe and Cornell.
Men's Heavyweight Crew - Lake Carnegie
April 8 - 11 am vs. Penn and Columbia
The top-ranked Princeton men's heavyweight crew opened its 2006 season in impressive fashion last Saturday, claiming the Logg Cup by more than 18 seconds over Rutgers at Lake Carnegie. The Tigers will look to do the same this weekend as they compete for the historic Childs Cup against both Penn and Columbia.
Softball - Class of 1895 Field
April 8 - 1 pm vs. Yale University
April 9 - 1 pm vs. Brown University
The Princeton Softball team looks to continue their defense of the Ivy League title as they open up their home Ivy schedule. The Tigers, who began the Ivy season with a doubleheader sweep of Penn, will look to take two from Yale as they visit Princeton Saturday afternoon, and then return to Class of 1895 Field the following day to battle the Bears of Brown University in a twin-bill.
Women's Lacrosse - Class of 1952 Stadium
April 8 - 2 pm vs. Yale University
Thanks to a close 10-9 victory Wednesday over the Temple Owls, the Tigers will be riding a three game winning streak when they return back to their Ivy schedule to face the Yale Bulldogs. Princeton women's lacrosse, currently 2-0 in Ivy League play, is ranked eighth in the latest Bounce Entertainment/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.
Men's Golf - Springdale Golf Club
April 8 - 7:45 am
April 9 - 8:15 am
Princeton Invitational
Fourteen teams will converge on the Springdale Golf Club this weekend for the only home event of the spring season Saturday and Sunday as the Tigers host the Princeton Invitational. It is the last event before the Ivy League Championship Apr. 22-23.
