Box Score
The Princeton men's volleyball team completed the 2006 regular season with a 6-12 record, including a 4-8 mark in the EIVA Tait division. The Tigers split their final week, winning Tuesday night at NYU and falling Saturday at George Mason. They will host the eighth seed in the EIVA, a team still to be determined, next Wednesday in a pre-quarterfinal round.
The EIVA playoffs have been changed for the upcoming season. Instead of four quarterfinal matches (1 seed v. 8, 2 v. 7, etc.), the fifth seed will host the eighth seed and the sixth seed will host the seventh seed. From there, those two winners will compete against the third and fourth seeds. The top two teams will receive byes until the semifinals.
One of those teams will be George Mason, which completed a season sweep of Princeton with a 3-0 home win Saturday. Mason claimed a 30-28, 30-24, 30-28 victory, despite 12 kills and a .556 attack percentage from freshman middle Michael Vincent.
The Tigers clinched the fifth seed with a 33-35, 30-22, 30-24, 30-28 win Tuesday night at NYU. Princeton got 16 kills apiece from outsides Peter Eichler and Ryn Burns, but it was another clutch senior effort from Jack Pichard (21 kills, 4 aces) that paced the offense. Freshman setter Brandon Denham recorded 61 assists in the win.
