The 2005-06 hockey season saw 13 Princeton men's hockey graduates continue their careers professionally in league's ranging from the National Hockey League to the Finnish League. Two Princetonians were on NHL rosters, while a pair of 2005-06 team members appeared in professional games once the Princeton season had been completed.
Jeff Halpern '99 continued his run with the Washington Capitals in the NHL. The six-year NHL-veteran served as the team's captain in 2005-06 and scored 11 goals and added 33 assists for 44 points. He has now appeared in 438 games and has 214 career points.
Los Angeles King forward George Parros `03, who became the seventh Tiger to skate in the NHL after two full seasons with the Kings' American Hockey League affiliate joined him in the NHL this season. Parros, who had five points in 55 games, also had 138 penalty minutes. Princeton seniors Patrick Neundorfer and Seamus Young got their professional careers off to a quick start as both suited up the ECHL's Trenton Titans in the weeks following the end of the Princeton hockey season. Neundorfer played in two games with Trenton and has since signed a contract to play in Germany next season. Young skated in nine games for the Titans and had goal and an assist for the team. A third member of the Princeton Class of 2006, Brian Carthas, has yet to make a professional appearance, but he also will play in Germany next season.
Three other former Tigers saw action in Trenton during the season. Scott Bertoli '99 is the face of the Titans franchise as he has played seven seasons in Trenton and leads the team in most statistical categories. Bertoli also appeared in nine games at the AHL level, notching five points in nine games with the Norfolk Admirals.
Matt Maglione '04 spent the full season as a Titans' defenseman. The last Princeton player drafted by an NHL team, Maglione completed his second ECHL season with 17 points. Lastly, Michael Acosta '99 played 13 games for Trenton and two for the ECHL's Reading Royals.
Speaking of Reading, the 2004-05 ECACHL scoring champion, Dustin Sproat '06, appeared in 16 games for the Royals with a goal and assist. Two other Tigers were on ECHL rosters in 2005-06. Steve Slaton '04 played a full season with the Gwinnett Gladiators and tallied 36 points in the 72-game season. Brad Parsons '02 started his season playing in the ECHL with the South Carolina Stingrays, and had 38 points in 39 games, but finished the season up with HIFK Helsinki in the Finnish League.
In Finland, Parsons faced David Schneider '02, who played for HPK Hameenlinna in 2005-06. He had 26 points in 51 games during his third season playing in the Finnish League.
Tiger teammates Neil McCann '03 and Neil Stevenson-Moore '05 were teammates in England, playing for the Edinburgh Capitals. McCann played in 38 games with 10 goals and 11 assists on the blueline. Stevenson-Moore had 20 goals and 18 assists in 47 games for the team.
