HANOVER, N.H. -- A goal late in the third period by senior Kim Pearce moved the Princeton women's hockey team within a goal of Dartmouth, but a Dartmouth empty-net goal sealed a 3-1 win for the Big Green at Thompson Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The Big Green jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals from Jenna Cunningham and Shannon Bowman. Cunningham opened the scoring at 2:01 and Bowman added her score at 15:42.
After a scoreless second period, the Tigers moved within a goal when Pearce scored her eighth goal of the season on a breakaway. The goal was assisted by sophomore Annie Greenwood and senior Dina McCumber.
The Tigers pressured late but could not add another goal and Dartmouth sealed the win with an empty-net goal at 18:22.
Shots on goal were even at 25-25. Sophomore Kristen Young made 22 saves for Princeton. Carli Clemis made 24 saves for Dartmouth.
