Men's Squash Sweeps Cornell To Open 2007-08 Season

The Princeton men's squash team opened the 2007-08 season in dominant fashion Sunday, sweeping all 27 games in a 9-0 win at Cornell. No. 1 player Mauricio Sanchez, a 2007 national finalist, dropped only two points in the game, while freshmen David Letourneau and Peter Sopher both won in their collegiate debuts. Princeton also topped Western Ontario Sunday.
Princeton, the two-time defending Ivy League champions, had its typical junior trio at the top. Sanchez, Kimlee Wong and Hesham El Halaby all won comfortably, as did sophomores David Canner (No. 4) and Santiago Imberton (No. 5). Letourneau won his debut at No. 6 and lost only two points in the match, while classmate Sopher claimed a 9-7, 9-4, 9-4 win at No. 8. Senior co-captain Tom McKay swept three games at No. 7, while Scott Callahan was dominant at No. 9.
