Women's Squash Sweeps Dartmouth For Share Of 2007 Ivy Crown, Stands One Win Away From Outright Title

The Princeton women's squash team won 27 of 28 possible games to rout Dartmouth 9-0 Saturday afternoon at the Jadwin Squash Courts. The win clinched a share of the 2007 Ivy League title, the fourth championship in program history and its first since 1998. Princeton, which improved to 7-0, 5-0 in the league, can clinch the outright title and a perfect season Sunday at 3 p.m. when it hosts Harvard. Princeton was dominant against the Big Green, winning 18 of its 27 games by scores of either 9-0, 9-1 or 9-2. The Tigers led 4-0 after the first session, and following a game-one loss by Carly Grabowski at No. 8, the Tigers won every game the rest of the match. Grabowski bounced back from the setback with wins of 9-2, 9-2 and 9-1 over Libbey Brown, and Neha Kumar, Gen Lessard and Casey Riley chipped in with the remainder of the wins.
The odd matches also went to Princeton, including a win for senior Claire Rein-Weston at No. 1 over Ashley Malenchak. Amanda Siebert, Ali Pearson, Marilla Hiltz and Kaitlin Sennatt all claimed 3-0 wins also, and none gave up more than seven points in any match.
Princeton will shoot for the perfect regular season and the No. 1 seed at next weekend's Howe Cup Championships when it hosts Harvard, a match that will follow the men's Ivy League championship showdown at noon.
