Women's Squash Team Finishes National Runner-Up
March 08, 2026 | Women's Squash
A season that included the Princeton women's squash program's first Ivy League title since 2013 and a championship in the first-ever Ivy League Tournament came up just short of the program's first Howe Cup national team title since 2009.
Making the team's second appearance in the national final in three years, the Tigers took Penn to the final match on court, with Jana Dweek's win at ninth position serving as the clincher. The Quakers started strong, winning in three games at fourth position and in four games at first to take a 2-0 lead, but Princeton rallied back with a four-game win at seventh position from Liyen Teoh and a five-game win from Sam Jaffe at fifth to even it at 2-2. With the win, Sam Jaffe finished her rookie season undefeated at 17-0.
Penn went back in front with a win at third position, but Caroline Eielson answered quickly with a sweep at sixth to get Princeton back even at 3-3. The teams matched each other again, with Penn going in front with a five-game win at eighth before Alex Jaffe completed a sweep at second position to make it 4-4 before Dweek's win clinched it.
The meeting was the third of the year between Princeton, ranked No. 1 in the nation, and Penn, ranked No. 2. Princeton had won both, with both taking place at the Racquet and Recreation Center in Princeton, as the Tigers took the regular-season match on the way to an undefeated Ivy League season before adding to that with Ivy Tournament title in defeating Penn in the final.
