Alex Hewit Named Ivy League Player Of The Week

Princeton goalie Alex Hewit has been named the Ivy League men's lacrosse Player of the Week.
Hewit made 14 saves while allowing only three goals as Princeton defeated Yale 5-3 Saturday afternoon in New Haven. Hewit, whose save percentage for the game was .824, made eight of his saves in the second half, including a pair of saves on back-to-back point-blank shots in the final two minutes.
Princeton is now 5-2 on the season with four games that have been decided by one or two goals and three games that have been decided by at least seven goals. Hewit's save percentage in the four close games, in which Princeton is 2-2, is .682; his save percentage in the other three, all Princeton wins, is .467.
In addition, Hewit lowered his career goals-against average to 6.27, second-best in NCAA history.
Hewit and the Tigers will play Syracuse Saturday afternoon (3) in Princeton Stadium. Princeton and Syracuse have combined to win 14 of the last 19 NCAA titles.
