Trombino Named Ivy League Player Of The Week
April 30, 2007 | Men's Lacrosse
In something of a good news-bad news scenario, Princeton's Peter Trombino was named Ivy League men's lacrosse Player of the Week after a three-goal, two-assist performance during a 13-6 win over Dartmouth ? whose freshman goalie Michael Novosel was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week after making 17 saves in the same game.
Trombino helped Princeton defeat the Big Green for the 48th time in 55 meetings between the schools as the Tigers improved to 9-3 overall heading into the regular season finale at home against Brown Saturday (1).
Trombino also became the first player in Princeton history to have four seasons of at least 20 goals and at least 10 assists and the fourth player in school history and first to play for Bill Tierney with at least 90 career goals and at least 50 career assists. The senior attackman leads the Tigers with 25 goals and 35 points, and he stands 12th all-time at Princeton with 144 points. He needs one goal to move into a four-way tie for 11th all-time at Princeton.
Princeton, ranked sixth in the latest Nike/Inside Lacrosse media poll, will wait for the NCAA tournament selections Sunday night at 9 on ESPNU and ESPNEWS. Cornell has already clinched the Ivy League title and the league's automatic bid to the tournament.
