Jungers Named First-Team All-America; Seven Tigers Honored In All

Zachary Jungers, the leader of the nation's top-ranked defense, has
been named a USILA first-team All-America. The All-America teams were
announced between games of Saturday's NCAA Final Four in Baltimore.

Jungers was one of seven Princeton players honored. Goalie Alex Hewit
and defenseman Dan Cocoziello were second-team All-America selections,
while midfielders Scott Sowanick and Mark Kovler were named third-team
All-America. Attackman Peter Trombino and defenseman Chris Peyser were
honorable mention selections.

Jungers, a senior from Phoenix, Md., became the first Princeton
defenseman since Damien Davis in 2003 and the fifth defenseman to play
for Bill Tierney at Princeton to be named first-team All-America.
Jungers anchored a defense that allowed 6.0 goals per game and did not
allow any opponent to score more than 10. Jungers, who moved from
longstick midfield to close defense prior to his junior year and became
a third-team All-America a year ago, was also an Academic All-Ivy
League selection, a District II second-team Academic All-America and a
finalist for the Lowe's Senior Class Award for Lacrosse.

Hewit, a first-team pick in 2006, was a second-team selection after a
junior year that saw him finish fifth in Division I in save percentage
at .595 and second in goals-against average at 6.33. Cocoziello,
Hewit's high school teammate at New Jersey's Delbarton School, was a
second-team pick for the second straight year.

Sowanick and Kovler were two members of Princeton's No. 1 midfield
unit. Kovler scored 23 goals, the most by a Tiger sophomore midfielder
since Josh Sims had 32 in 1998, and added five assists for 28 points.
Sowanick had 11 goals and 15 assists and finished his career with 121
points.

Trombino led Princeton with 30 goals and 43 points. He became the first
player in school history to have four seasons of at least 20 goals and
10 assists and the fifth to have four seasons of at least 20 goals. His
98 career goals rank ninth all-time at Princeton, and his 152 points
are 11th. He is one of two players in school history with at least 95
career goals and at least 50 career assists.

Peyser started every game on close defense.
