Princeton Athletics Honored with Two NACMA Awards
June 14, 2007 | General
PRINCETON - The National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) recognized Princeton with two awards in separate categories, the most among Ivy League institutions, at its 16th annual convention held June 7-10 in Orlando, Florida.
Princeton received a gold award in the promotional/schedule poster category for the design of the 2006 Princeton football schedule poster and a bronze for the 2006 Princeton football ticket brochure in the ticket sales piece grouping.
During the 2006-07 academic year, the Princeton Athletic Department adopted the theme, "Experience the Tradition", for all of its 38 varsity sports based upon feedback from its fans. This theme was evident in the football poster which featured senior quarterback Jeff Terrell '07 running through a hole created by the offensive line from an early 1970's Princeton squad, with a current stadium fan photo faded in the background. This was also carried into the design of the schedule brochure which features a cover with former Heisman Trophy winner Dick Kazmaier '52 and Cleo Kirkland '07, and inside panels with photos of both Palmer and Princeton Stadium, while maintaining the "experience" theme in the text. Both feature Princeton as the prominent text along with the "experience the tradition" tagline.
Initiated in 2003, the NACMA Awards program honors outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions. Awards are presented in 16 categories, with each category divided into three groups based upon school size and conference affiliations to promote fairness. A total of 922 entries were received for the 2006-07 year.
NACMA is the first organization of its kind to provide educational and networking opportunities; enhancement of acceptable operating standards and ethics; and establishment of the overall prestige and understanding of the profession of athletics marketing administrators.
