Princeton Joins Nationwide Celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day

PRINCETON ? The Princeton University Department of Athletics will hold its ninth annual celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Sat., Feb. 9.
The event will feature a sports clinic before Princeton's women's basketball team takes on Ivy League rival Columbia at 6 p.m.
The clinic, which starts at 4:30 p.m., will offer participants the chance to learn the fundamentals of a variety of sports, including lacrosse, crew, field hockey, volleyball and golf from Princeton student-athletes and coaches.
Following the game, the women's basketball team will hold a “Meet the Tigers” autograph session. Admission to the sports fair and basketball game is $5 for adults and $3 for children under age 13.
National Girls and Women in Sports Day was chartered by Congress in 1986 in memory of former U.S. Olympic volleyball team captain Flo Hyman to honor female athletic achievement and recognize the importance of women's sports and fitness participation.
Princeton's celebration of the event, one of hundreds at schools across the country, is presented by Tyco International, the Bank of Princeton, The Princeton Group at Smith Barney, and the Princeton Packet.
