December 06, 2008 | Women's Squash
The final weekend of the 2008 portion of the women's squash schedule took Princeton to New England, and the Tigers got off to a strong start. Led by a 3-0 win by No. 1 player Amanda Siebert, Princeton swept Brown 9-0 to improve to 4-0 overall, 2-0 in the Ivy League.
Siebert defeated Charlotte Steel 9-5, 9-3, 9-0 in the No. 1 match, while junior classmate Emery Maine dropped only four points against Letitia Haynes in a victory at No. 2. Princeton got wins from every class, including freshman Katherine Giovinazzo, who swept Leila Driansky 9-0, 9-0, 9-0 at the No. 9 match.
The match also marked the return to the lineup for sophomore Jackie Moss, who played No. 3 in the Howe Cup national championship last season but missed the first three matches of this season with an offseason injury. She won 9-2, 9-6, 9-1 over Carolyn Tilney at the No. 4 spot.
Princeton will complete its New England weekend tomorrow when it heads to Williamstown, Mass., for matches against both host Williams and Bowdoin.
