Men's Volleyball Drops EIVA Opener 3-1 At Juniata
February 08, 2008 | Men's Volleyball
One of the most exciting rivalries in the EIVA served as the league opener for the Princeton men's volleyball team, although it went the way of the home team. Juniata College won a pair of close games en route to a 3-1 victory over the Tigers, who fell to 1-3 on the season. Princeton will take on East Stroudsburg tomorrow to complete the weekend road trip.
Princeton dropped the opener 30-26, but bounced back for a 30-28 win in the second game. The third game would be both close and crucial; after 17 tie scores and nine lead changes, Juniata pulled out a 33-31 victory. The Eagles rode that momentum for a 30-23 win in the fourth game.
Junior Mike Vincent and sophomore Jeff McCown both recorded 13 kills from the middle position, while outsides Peter Eichler and Phillip Rosenberg combined for 21 kills and 13 digs. Junior Brandon Denham recorded 48 assists and six digs. McCown led Princeton with six blocks, while Eichler had a team-best nine digs.
