Men's Volleyball Drops Road Thriller At NJIT
April 02, 2008 | Men's Volleyball
The Princeton men's volleyball team knew it would have a battle on its hands when it traveled to EIVA Tait rival NJIT. That battle certainly came, but it was the host Highlanders who pulled out the late victory on Senior Night. Princeton rallied from two games down, but NJIT came away with a 15-13 win in the decisive game.
Junior middle Mike Vincent led Princeton with 14 kills, while junior outside Phil Rosenberg recorded 11 kills and 11 digs. Junior libero Ka'ohu Berg-Hee led Princeton with 19 digs, while classmate Brandon Denham recorded 44 assists and 10 digs.
Princeton could have won either of the first two games, but fell 30-28 and 31-29. The Tigers rallied for wins of 30-21 and 30-27 in the third and fourth games, but NJIT pulled out the key points at the end of the fifth game to win 15-13.
Princeton is now 4-5 in the NJIT Tait Division and will play a crucial match Friday night against Juniata at Dillon Gym. The winner will have the inside track to a home quarterfinal match, likely against the other team, which would host the EIVA Hay Division No. 2 team in a first-round match.
