Cocoziello Named Unanimous First-Team All-Ivy League; McBride Is Rookie Of The Year

Dan Cocoziello is the top defenseman in Ivy League men's lacrosse. It's unanimous.
Cocoziello, a Princeton senior who started every game of his four-year career, was a unanimous first-team All-Ivy League selection in a vote of the league's seven head coaches. Cocoziello, the lone Princeton player to earn first-team honors, was the only defenseman to be a unanimous pick.
Princeton freshman Jack McBride was named the league's Rookie of the Year after a season that saw him finish sixth all-time among Princeton freshman goal scorers and set the school single-game freshman record.
Tommy Davis, Alex Hewit and Bob Schneider were second-team selections, while McBride and Chris Peyser were honorable mention honorees.
Brown goalie Jordan Burke was the league's Player of the Year.
Cocoziello began his career as the only freshman ever to win the league's Rookie of the Year award. He ended it as one of the top defensive players in Princeton history. Among his senior year accomplishments were ending the consecutive game point-scoring streak of Penn's Craig Andrzejewski at 25 and locking up Cornell's Max Seibald while the Tigers shut out the Big Red for more than 31 minutes while building an 8-2 lead en route to an 11-7 win; both Seibald and Andrzejewski were first-team All-Ivy picks.
Cocoziello also scored two goals and had two assists.
Davis became the first Princeton player since Justin Tortolani in 1990 to lead the team in goals and assists as the junior finished with 23 goals and 16 assists.
Schneider scored 20 goals as a senior after having 19 for his career prior to this year. He also tied the Harvard game with 1:20 left in regulation and then won it in overtime.
Hewit finished his career third in Division I history in goals-against average at 7.00002. He also made 13 saves and scored a goal in his final game, a 6-5 loss to Brown last week.
Peyser started every game this season on defense and has now started 27 straight games for the Tigers.
McBride scored 19 goals and had two assists while starting the final 11 games of his freshman year. His six goals against Penn broke the Princeton freshman record.
