Hubbard Sets Major League Lacrosse Career Goals Record
July 29, 2008 | Men's Lacrosse
Jesse Hubbard '98 of the Los Angeles Riptide scored four times in a 13-9 win over the Philadelphia Barrage Saturday afternoon and in doing so became the leading goal scorer in Major League Lacrosse history. Hubbard now has 242 goals, three better than the record formerly held by Mark Millon.
Hubbard, the all-time leader in goals scored at Princeton with 163, moved past Millon on his second goal against the Barrage in a game played at the Home Depot Center. Hubbard is in his first season with the Riptide after spending all of his career with the New Jersey Pride.
Hubbard won the race to Millon's record by bettering the record before his former New Jersey teammate Scott Urick, who now has 228 for his career. Hubbard entered this season with 221 goals, five better than Urick's 216, but he has responded by leading the Riptide with 21 goals on the season.
Princeton alum Peter Trombino '07 had four goals for the Barrage in the loss to the Riptide, giving him nine in his last two games.
Hubbard, Millon, Urick and Tim Goettelmann (with 200) are the only players in MLL history with at least 200 career goals.
