PROVIDENCE, R.I. (10/17/09) -- Sophomore Katie Reinprecht scored two goals and added an assist to help lead the fourth-ranked Princeton field hockey team to a 5-1 win at Brown on Saturday afternoon. Princeton scored all five goals in the first half as it improved to 4-0 in the Ivy League.
Reinprecht's first goal of the game was also Princeton's first and came in the sixth minute off a shot from the top of the circle through traffic that beat Brown goalkeeper Caroline Washburn between her pads. Princeton made the score 2-0 two minutes later when freshman Michelle Cesan scored her fifth goal of the season.
The Tigers extended the lead in the 13th minute when Reinprecht again found the back of the net, this time on a direct corner. Cesan and junior Alexandra Douwes assisted on Reinprecht's ninth goal of the season.
Princeton completed its scoring in the final five minutes of the opening half as freshman Carrie Diamond scored her second and third goals of the season. Senior Kaitlin Donovan assisted on the first as Diamond shot from the left side to the far corner. Reinprecht assisted on the next as Diamond again shot from the left and scored through the legs of the goalkeeper.
Brown's Kelley Harrison closed the scoring in the 66th minute.
Princeton outshot Brown 31-2 and had 18 corners to Brown's one. Washburn made 13 saves in the Brown net. Princeton junior goalkeeper Jennifer King and senior goalie Cynthia Wray each played a half in the win.
The Tigers improved to 11-2 overall and 4-0 in the Ivy League with the win. Princeton remains one game up on 3-1 Yale, which defeated Dartmouth today, in the Ivy standings.
The Tigers continue their Ivy League schedule next Saturday at Harvard.
