POTSDAM, N.Y. (12/5/09) -- Clarkson's Melissa Waldie scored two goals to help her team to a 13-3 win over the Princeton women's hockey team on Saturday afternoon at Cheel Arena.
Waldie scored an unassisted goal midway through the second period to snap a scoreless game as she redirected an errant Princeton clearing attempt into the Tiger goal. Clarkson held the lead through the next 10 minutes despite three penalties that gave Princeton power-play chances before the second period ended.
The Golden Knights padded their lead just over a minute into the third period when Genevieve Lavoie scored. Clarkson had a penalty shot minutes later by Brittany Mulligan go wide, but Waldie closed the scoring midway through the third on the power play.
Clarkson's Laura Dahm made 29 saves for the win while sophomore Rachel Weber made 19 saves in the loss.
Princeton falls to 7-6-1 overall and 5-4-1 in the ECAC with the loss. Princeton plays two games at Syracuse next week before taking two weeks off for the Holiday Break.
