Men's Volleyball Claims Home Opener 3-1 Over NYU

Sophomore Vincent Tuminelli recorded 22 kills in his first home start and senior Phillip Rosenberg added 12 kills and nine digs to lead the Princeton men's volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over NYU Tuesday night. The win improves Princeton to 3-4 on the season, while NYU falls to 2-9.
After dropping the first game 30-25, Princeton claimed the matches with wins of 30-21, 30-24 and 30-24. Princeton hit .331 for the match, including a match-best .516 in the second game. NYU fell to 2-9 with the loss.
Tuminelli, starting this season after the graduation of All-East outside Peter Eichler '08, killed 22 balls on 38 swings for a .421 attack percentage, and he added four digs and three blocks in the win. Rosenberg had 12 kills, while senior middle Mike Vincent, the hero of Saturday's comeback victory over St. Francis, recorded 11 kills and four blocks. Junior Carl Hamming recorded 10 kills, four blocks and two digs. The offense was paced by senior Brandon Denham, who recorded 57 assists and three digs.
Princeton has now won two matches in a row for the first time this season, and it will go for a third straight win Saturday at 4 p.m. in a home match against EIVA Hay Division leader Rutgers-Newark.
