Captain Marty Everin Sweeps Sunday, But Wrestling Team Falls To Columbia, Drexel

Senior Marty Everin continued his impressive season with a Sunday sweep, but it wasn't enough to help the short-handed Princeton wrestling team to a victory against either Columbia or Drexel Sunday afternoon. Everin won a pair of decision, including a major against Drexel, but the Tigers fell 32-9 to Columbia and 40-10 to Drexel.
In the opener, Everin claimed an 8-2 win over Derek Sickles at 157 pounds. Princeton also got wins from its top two freshman, Daniel Kolodzik and Kurt Brendel. Kolodzik claimed a hard-fought 4-2 win at 149 pounds, while Brendel earned a 7-4 win over Kenji Porter at 184 pounds. The win was Brendel's 14th of the season, which gave the most victories on the team.
It didn't take long for Everin to tie that mark, as he shut out Billy Haydt for an 8-0 major decision for his 14th victory of the season. Junior Mike Alvarez also got a victory with a pin against Scott Hunter in the third period.
Princeton will close its regular season next weekend when it hosts Boston University and Sacred Heart Saturday at Jadwin Gym.
