Monday Men's Lacrosse: Princeton Now Fifth In Both Polls; Clarification On Albany Game
March 16, 2009 | Men's Lacrosse
The Princeton men's lacrosse team fell from third to fifth in the USILA coaches' poll and the Inside Lacrosse media poll after falling to Hofstra Saturday.
The 4-1 Tigers trail the same four teams in both polls as Virginia is a unanimous No. 1 and Syracuse is a unanimous No. 2. Notre Dame is third in both polls, while Cornell is fourth in the media poll and tied with Notre Dame for third in the coaches' poll.
Looking behind, Princeton owns wins over UMBC (seventh in coaches' poll/sixth in media poll) and Johns Hopkins (9th/7th). Hofstra, who defeated Princeton 9-7 after leading 7-1 in the third quarter, is sixth in the coaches' poll and ninth in the media poll.
Up next for Princeton is Albany, who is 4-1 after a week that included wins over UMass and Drexel. The Great Danes are ranked 17th in both polls.
Including Albany, Princeton still has five games remaining against teams ranked this week, including Top 5 teams Syracuse and Cornell and including Brown (12th/14th) and Harvard (16th in both).
The Princeton-Albany game is going to be played Friday at 3 p.m. at Class of 1952 Stadium, not at 5 in Princeton Stadium. The game can be seen on ESPNU.
