Tyler Fiorito Named GoPrincetonTigers.Com Princeton Army ROTC Athlete Of The Week
April 06, 2009 | General, Men's Lacrosse
Tyler Fiorito wasn't fazed by playing defending NCAA champion Syracuse at Giants Stadium anymore than he was by playing Johns Hopkins at M&T Bank Stadium five weeks earlier.
Fiorito, Princeton's freshman goalie, was one of the main reasons that Princeton defeated Syracuse 12-8 Saturday in the Big City Classic in a win that vaulted Princeton to No. 2 in the national rankings.
For his performance, Fiorito is the goprincetontigers.com Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Princeton Army ROTC.
Fiorito made 15 saves while allowing eight goals while holding the Orange more than six goals below their pregame average of 14.1. Syracuse had been leading Division I in scoring offense prior to the game.
Fiorito was also named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
