UCLA Downs Men's Water Polo in Season Opener

The Bruins jumped ahead in the opening quarter with three goals while holding Princeton to limited chances in the defensive end. Princeton junior Matt Hale put the Tigers on the board early in the second quarter, but the Bruins built their lead to 7-1 at the half.
In the second half, the Tigers got goals from seniors David de L'Arbre and Douglas Wigley and junior Tommy Parolin. Senior Eric Vreeland had a pair of assists while Hale added four assists.
Sophomore goalkeeper Mike Merlone made seven saves in the first half while senior Scott Hvidt blocked four in the second half.
Princeton is now 0-1 and returns to the water tomorrow for games against Harvard and Santa Clara.
