Men's Water Polo Wins Twice; Tops Iona and George Washington

Princeton opened the day with a 12-5 non-league win over Iona on Saturday morning. The Tigers raced to a big lead at the half and kept the Gaels off the scoreboard until well in the second half. Mike Helou led all scorers with three goals in the game, and also added two steals, an assist and four ejections drawn.
Princeton also got a pair of goals from Kurt Buchbinder, Billy Tifft and Tim Webzlau in the game. Ben Dearborn made 11 saves in three quarters for the win, while Tyler Amina made five saves in the final period.
In the nightcap, Princeton improved to 6-2 in CWPA Southern Division action with a win over George Washington. Princeton again held its opponent off the scoreboard until the second half and allowed just three goals in the win.
Helou and Wenzlau each scored four goals in the win and Mike Merlone made 10 saves in three quarters of play. Amina again played the final quarter and stopped two shots.
Princeton is now 13-7 overall. The Tigers are back in action next weekend when they play host to the Ivy League Tournament at DeNunzio Pool.
