
PVC Speaker Series Brings Chris Thomforde Back To Campus

Chris Thomforde went from being a towering presence on the basketball court for Princeton in the 1960s to being a towering figure in the worlds of spirituality and education since.
His experiences in both worlds will define his presentation as part of the Princeton Varsity Club's Jake McCandless '51 Speaker Series.
Thomforde, now the president of Moravian College, wiil speak on "Education In A Balanced Life" this Tuesday at 7:30 in Dodds Auditorium in Robertson Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
Thomforde was a center on Princeton's 1967, 1968 an 1969 Ivy League championship teams, and he helped the 1967 and 1969 teams to the NCAA tournament. He also appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated with Gary Walters - now the Director of Atheltics at Princeton- in 1967.
He finished his career with 1,122 career points, which at the time ranked third all-time at Princeton and today ranks 14th. He also is fifth all-time at Princeton in free throw percentage.
After graduating from Princeton, Thomforde earned a master's degree from Yale Divinity School at a Ph.D. from the Princeton Theological Seminary.
He has been the president at Moravian since 2006. Prior to that, he was the president of St. Olaf College in Minnesota.
