Men's Volleyball Sees Marathon Magic End In Road Loss At Saint Francis
March 27, 2010 | Men's Volleyball
After three straight five-set victories within the EIVA Tait Division, the Princeton men's volleyball team ended the weekend on the wrong side of a 3-2 match. Host Saint Francis saw a four-match losing streak end with a 15-7 win in the fifth set against Princeton.
Freshman Pat Schwagler led Princeton with 24 kills, while senior middle Jeff McCown recorded 20 kills and four blocks, but it wasn't enough against a Saint Francis team that recorded 19 total team blocks. The Red Flash defense limited Princeton to a .125 attack percentage in the fifth set to clinch a 15-7 win.
Junior Vincent Tuminelli and freshman Michael Dye both recorded nine kills, while Schwagler, senior Carl Hamming and freshman Sean Cotter each recorded 10 digs. Sophomore Scott Liljestrom paced the offense with 65 assists and added one of Princeton's four aces.
Saint Francis is now 9-10 overall, 2-4 in the division, while Princeton is now 7-7 overall and 3-4 in the Tait. Princeton will return home Friday night for its final division match in Dillon Gym and will take on George Mason for the first time this season.
