Jack McBride Named Ivy League Player Of The Week
April 19, 2010 | Men's Lacrosse
In a week in which he scored eight goals and had 10 points, perhaps Jack McBride's most impressive moment was when he was able to catch an 80-yard pass from goalie Tyler Fiorito.
McBride hauled in the long pass from his goalie to score the key goal - a man down score that made it 8-6 in the fourth quarter - in Tuesday night's 10-8 win over Rutgers. That goal was his third of the night.
The junior then followed that up with five goals and two assists for a career-high tying seven points in a 16-2 win over Dartmouth.
The big week earned McBride Ivy League Player of the Week honors as Princeton moved to 9-2 overall and 4-0 in the Ivy League heading into the final two weeks of the regular season, with games this Saturday at Harvard and May 1 at home against Cornell. After that is the first Ivy League tournament, in which Princeton and has already clinched a spot.
The two wins last week didn't help Princeton in the polls, as the Tigers dropped from fifth to sixth despite going 2-0. Princeton is ranked behind Syracuse and the four Atlantic Coast Conference schools.
As for McBride, his big week left him with 99 career points, one shy of becoming the 24th player in school history to reach 100. He is also 18th all-time in goals at Princeton with 81, one behind Jon Hess for 17th and three away from moving into 15th.
