Blosser's Winner Lifts Women's Soccer over Hartford
September 11, 2010 | Women's Soccer
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- To say Caitlin Blosser has contributed to a successful week for the Princeton women's soccer team would be putting it mildly.
Friday night at Hartford, the sophomore's 97th-minute golden goal lifted the Tigers to a 1-0 win five days after her three assists helped Princeton beat Seton Hall.
The win improves Princeton to 2-1 on the young season and gives the Tigers their first road victory of 2010 as the team heads home to take on James Madison Sunday at noon.
Blosser and fellow sophomore Jen Hoy accounted for all six of Princeton's shots on goal as the Tigers outshot Hartford (1-5) 12-4 overall. Both contributed to the match-winning play, with Hoy bringing the ball into the box only to be met by a Hartford defender. Blosser was able to get the ball back and fire it towards the net before the defense recovered.
Princeton forced Hartford goalkeeper Lauren Brodeur to make four saves, while Tiger sophomore Kristin Watson, in her first full-match appearance, clean-sheeted the Hawks with two saves.
