Tigers Top MIT 6-4 in Men's Water Polo ECAC Opener

Princeton, the tournament's second seed, got off to a good start at both ends of the pool, holding MIT off the scoreboard for the first half while scoring three times in the offensive zone. Goalkeeper Mike Merlone made six saves in the half to help Princeton hold the Engineers scoreless in the half.
Offensively Tommy Donahue led the charge with a four-goal performance. Chris Cottrell and Matt Hale also added goals in the win, while Tim Wenzlau, the reigning Southern Player of the Week, had a pair of assists.
Princeton was outscored 4-3 in the second half, but the game was never in doubt. Ben Dearborn played the second half in goal and also made six saves in a half of action.
The Tigers advance to the semifinals of the tournament tonight against 13th-ranked St. Francis at 9 p.m.
