Ragazzo Helps Women's Soccer to Win at Lehigh
October 13, 2011 | Women's Soccer
BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Princeton freshman Gabrielle Ragazzo became the seventh Tiger to score her first career goal this fall, this one helping the women's soccer team to a 1-0 win at Lehigh Wednesday night.
With the win, Princeton claimed its first back-to-back victories of a season on which the Tigers now have 3-8-1 mark.
Ragazzo's goal came in the 52nd minute on a pass from Kacie Kergides on a night where Princeton outshot Lehigh 14-6 with both teams getting four shots on goal. Princeton goalkeeper Kristin Watson, making her return to the net after Claire Pinciaro played between the posts in the 6-0 win over Francis Marion Monday night, made four saves.
The win and the shutout keep lengthy streaks going for the Tigers in their series against Lehigh (6-6-1), one of Princeton's opponents in its first varsity season of 1980. Princeton is now 16-0-1 all-time against Lehigh while playing the series on-and-off and has not given up a goal to the Mountain Hawks since 1994.
Princeton is in the midst of a five-game, 11-day stretch that began last weekend at Brown and continued with the two non-league games this week. The Tigers will host Columbia Saturday at 4 p.m. in a return to the Ivy League schedule before finishing off the busy stretch Tuesday against Utah Valley also on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.
