November 05, 2011 | Women's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA -- Penn scored twice before Jen Hoy put in her team-leading eighth goal of the season Saturday evening in Philadelphia as the Quakers defeated the Princeton women's soccer team 3-1.
Ursula Lopez-Palm scored in the 18th minute while Erin Beck put Penn ahead 2-0 less than four minutes into the second half. Hoy's goal, with an assist from Sara Chehrehsa, halved Penn's advantage, but the Tigers (6-10-1, 2-5) got no closer.
Penn (14-2-1, 5-1-1) restored the two-goal lead when Lopez-Palm scored in the 83rd minute to make it 3-1.
Princeton outshot Penn 11-7 to close the season on a 12-game streak of outshooting its opponents. Princeton went 5-6-1 over that stretch and closed the season by winning five of its last seven games after starting 1-8-1.
The game was the final contest of the careers of Princeton's three seniors, including midfielder Chehrehsa and defenders Kim Menafra and Kalie Bartholomew.
