Men's Squash Sweeps Dartmouth, Looks Forward To Harvard Showdown
February 05, 2011 | Men's Squash
The third-ranked Princeton men's squash began its four-match homestand in impressive style Saturday afternoon, winning 27 of 29 individual games in a 9-0 victory over No. 7 Dartmouth.
Princeton was in control from the start of the opening shift, as senior David Letourneau defeated Nick Sisodia in three games to continue his perfect record in Ivy League duals. He will look to complete that streak Sunday afternoon when the Tigers host sixth-ranked Harvard at noon.
Both No. 4 Kelly Shannon and No. 6 David Pena were pushed to a fourth game after holding 2-0 leads, but both built on their impressive victories last weekend at Yale and claimed 3-1 wins. Junior Clay Blackiston, who nearly pulled off a thriller at the second-seeded Bulldogs, swept his match at No. 8.
As it turned out, those would be the closest of the matches. Each of the odd matches were decided in three games, including a win for No. 1 Todd Harrity, who was highly efficient in a sweep of Chris Hanson. Dartmouth's top player had already scored a win over No. 4 Rochester and went the distance against No. 1 Trinity, but Harrity was in total control.
Both Peter and Philip Sopher, as well as Christopher Callis, were also victors on the day. The ninth win belonged to senior Nikhil Seth, who battled back from an injury that kept him out of the Yale match. He showed his fitness with three tough wins at the No. 9 spot.
1 – Todd Harrity d. Chris Hanson 3, 9, 5
2 – David Letourneau d. Nick Sisodia 6, 4, 3,
3 – Christopher Callis d. Chris Jung 4, 4, 1,
4 – Kelly Shannon d. Robbie Maycock 5, 5, (5), 4
