Men's Volleyball Looks For First Ever Win Against Ball State
March 10, 2011 | Men's Volleyball
The Princeton men's volleyball team will see some new faces at Dillon Gym Saturday night, as the Ball State Cardinals bring a 10-6 record into this weekend's non-league match.
These teams haven't met since 1994, when the Cardinals scored a 3-1 win in a tournament held at George Mason. The current Ball State squad comes into the weekend having won four straight matches, though it will have a daunting challenge Friday night at Ohio State. The Cardinals have three consistent starters who are averaging more than two kills per game, including leading hitter Larry Wrather, who averages 2.72 per game.
Princeton has struggled after reaching the EIVA final last season. On a nine-match losing streak, the Tigers will look to ignite a second-half run against a team previously ranked in the Top 15. The Tigers have been led by freshman Jeff Stapleton, who averages 2.75 kills per set, and sophomore Michael Dye, who leads the team in blocks and is second in kills.
