NYU Takes Marathon Second Set, Tops Volleyball 3-1

Despite 18 kills from sophomore Michael Dye and 14 from freshman Jeff Stapleton, the Princeton men's volleyball team fell to 1-13 on the season with a 3-1 loss at NYU. Princeton completed its season series with the Violets 0-2, with both losses coming by 3-1 scores.
Princeton jumped out early at NYU, winning 25-18 in the opening set, but a hard-fought 29-27 loss in the second set sent momentum firmly on NYU's side. The Violets controlled the rest of the match, winning 25-14 and 25-22 to improve their record to 12-6 overall.
Dye hit .317 for the match and had five blocks to go along with his 18 kills. He also had two of Princeton's three aces, with junior setter Scott Liljestrom adding the other ace. Liljestrom also contributed 32 assists and four digs, while senior libero Vincent Tuminelli led all players with 21 digs.
Freshman middle Brad Howard was a defensive force with seven blocks, including three solo blocks. As a team, Princeton had 13 team blocks, but NYU managed to hit .220 for the match.
