Men's Volleyball Picks Up First Tait Win, Tops Saint Francis 3-1
March 26, 2011 | Men's Volleyball
Senior Vincent Tuminelli returned to the offensive lineup in impressive fashion Saturday afternoon, recording 18 kills and a .536 hitting percentage to lead the Princeton men's volleyball team to a 3-1 Tait Division win over Saint Francis at Dillon Gym.
Princeton earned its second win in its last three matches with a 25-21, 25-18, 24-26, 25-19 victory over the Red Flash. Tuminelli was the driving force for Princeton, but its overall balance on offense was key to the victory. Princeton hit .452 for the match, including .632 in a second-game effort that didn't include a single offensive error for the Tigers.
Sophomore Michael Dye recorded 14 kills and only two errors for Princeton, while freshman Jeff Stapleton added 11 kills. Stapleton and junior Scott Liljestrom both recorded a pair of aces, while Tuminelli had a match-high seven digs. Freshman Brad Howard led the Tigers with six blocks, while senior Keenan McCarthy added five.
Princeton will conclude its homestand next weekend with a 2 p.m. match against Harvard Saturday afternoon.
