Third-Ranked Men's Squash Stays Perfect With 8-1 Victory At Dartmouth
January 15, 2012 | Men's Squash
The return of senior co-captain Kelly Shannon and an exciting showdown at the No. 1 position were two highlights in Princeton's 8-1 victory at Dartmouth Saturday afternoon.
Third-ranked Princeton moved to 7-0, 2-0 in the Ivy League, with the road win. The Tigers got wins from each of the top eight spots, including the No. 4 position, where Shannon returned for an 11-8, 11-9, 11-5 win over Chris Jung. The 2011 All-America played in only his second match of the season after recovering from an injury and picked up some momentum heading into Sunday's match at Harvard.
Harrity moved his collegiate win streak to 27 with a hard-fought 11-8, 14-12, 9-11, 11-4 victory over talented Dartmouth No. 1 Chris Hanson. Fellow junior Steve Harrington was pushed even deeper in his match, but he rallied from a 2-1 deficit to win 11-7 and 11-8 in the final two games of a 3-2 win at the No. 8 position.
Freshmen Tyler Osborne and Samuel Kang both had good outings with 3-0 wins, while senior Chris Callis continued his strong run with a 3-1 victory at the No. 2 position.
Princeton will now head to Harvard, which scored a 9-0 win over Penn Saturday to improve to 10-0 on the season.
