January 15, 2012 | Women's Ice Hockey
ITHACA, N.Y. (1/14/12) - The Princeton women's hockey team had a five-game unbeaten streak halted by No. 3 Cornell 1-0 on Saturday, Jan. 14 at Lynah Rink.
Rebecca Johnston would score the game's only goal at 2:14 of the first period. Jillian Saulnier sent the puck down the ice where it deflected off of Brianne Jenner to Johnston who fired the puck past senior netminder Rachel Weber.
Princeton had a chance to knot the game when they got a 6x4 opportunity with a Big Red skater in the box and pulling Weber for the additional attacker. However, the Tigers couldn't get the equalizer.
The ECAC Goalie of the Week, Weber put together another great game, finishing with 38 saves.
Amanda Mazzotta stopped 14 in her first start since Dec. 3 for the Big Red, who are now 15-2 overall and 11-1 in league play.
Tonight's game was Princeton's first blemish since Dec. 10 when it lost at Quinnipiac. The Tigers are now 8-10-4 overall and 7-7-2 in the ECAC.
Princeton will take a two-week break for exams and semester break, and will return on Monday, Jan. 30 when it hosts Robert Morris at 3 p.m.
