No. 17 Cornell Defeats Men's Soccer 1-0 in Pivotal Ivy Match
October 27, 2012 | Men's Soccer
ITHACA, N.Y. (10/27/12) -- On a 48th-minute goal by Cornell's Daniel Haber, the Princeton men's soccer team fell to the 17th-ranked Big Red 1-0 Saturday afternoon in Ithaca in what was a key match among the Ivy League's upper division.
The loss, the first of the Ivy League season for Princeton as the Tigers fall to 6-6-2 overall and 2-1-2 in the Ivy, keeps Princeton at eight standings points while Cornell (13-1, 4-1), at least temporarily while it awaited Brown's result at Penn later Saturday, moved into first place with Dartmouth at 12 points. Brown entered its game in between with 10 points.
Two weeks remain in the Ivy season, as Princeton will host Penn next Saturday at 7 p.m. before heading to Yale for a 3 p.m. match on Nov. 10. Before any of that, however, is the Tigers' final non-league tilt at American this Tuesday at 3 p.m.
Princeton outshot the Red 12-9 overall but Cornell had more shots on goal, 4-3. Tiger keeper Seth MacMillan and Cornell counterpart Rick Pflasterer each had three saves.
