Men's Volleyball Moves Outside League Play For Weekend Pair
April 06, 2012 | Men's Volleyball
One weekend after its thrilling near upset of No. 8 Penn State, the Princeton men's volleyball team will host NYU and Vassar in a non-league pair.
The Tigers are still in the hunt for one of the league's four playoff bids, but without a league match for more than 10 days, the Tigers will use this time to sharpen their own game. Princeton will open the weekend Friday at 7, against former EIVA rival NYU, and then will take on Vassar Saturday at 2.
Princeton will be showcasing both its youth and experience this weekend. Three Tiger freshmen start, including Cody Kessel, who leads the EIVA with 4.05 kills and 4.6 points per set. Classmate Will Siroky ranks fifth in the East with 1.13 blocks per set.
Meanwhile, Saturday will serve as Senior Day for the Tigers, who will honor co-captains Scott Liljestrom and Dexter Scobee, as well as Jamie Ding, before the match.
