Princeton Women Now Seventh In Capital One Cup Standings
March 27, 2013 | General
The NCAA championship won by the women's fencing team this past weekend in Texas has vaulted Princeton to seventh in the Capital One Cup standings.
The Capital One Cup awards points for NCAA championship finishes. At the end of the academic year, one men's program and one women's program will win the Cups.
Princeton currently is tied for seventh with Minnesota with 30 points each. Penn State is in first, with 77, one point ahead of Oregon.
Princeton and Oregon are the only two schools who have won more than one NCAA team championship this year. Princeton has won the field hockey and fencing champoinships; Oregon has won women's cross country and women's indoor track and field.
Stanford, currently fourth with 68.5 points, has won the women's Cup each of the first two years.
Florida, not currently in the Top 10, has won the men's Cup each of the first two years.
