January 28, 2014 | Men's Volleyball
Since 1997, Princeton has gone 11-75 against teams ranked in the AVCA Top 15. Twice, Princeton has won multiple matches against Top-15 teams; the 1998 EIVA championship team defeated three nationally ranked opponents en route to the NCAA Championships, and the 2013 team won two matches against Top 15 teams.
The highest-ranked teams that Princeton has defeated has been No. 11 Penn State in the 1998 EIVA semifinal (3-1 on April 16, 1998), and No. 11 George Mason (3-1 on March 1, 2008).
Princeton has reached as high as No. 11 in the national rankings, a spot it held during the 1998 season. The Tigers, coming off an EIVA championship, ended that year with a No. 12 national ranking, the best postseason rank ever for Princeton men's volleyball.
Princeton was the top team among others receiving votes during the 2013 season, and it entered the 2014 season as the second team among others receiving votes. You can see all former AVCA national polls here.
