Four Different Goal Scorers Give Women's Hockey 4-1 Win at Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. (10/27/14) - Four different goal scorers gave the Princeton women's hockey team its first victory of the season, a 4-1 win at Penn State on Monday, Oct. 27 as the teams split the two-game series.
Junior Jaimie McDonell put Princeton on the board at 8:20 of the first period with sophomores Hilary Lloyd and Cassidy Tucker assisting.
Penn State's Laura Bowman knotted the game at 1-1 with a 4x4 goal at 11:51 in the second period.
Junior Cristin Shanahan tallied her second goal of the season and regained the lead for the Tigers with 48 seconds left in the second period. Koelzer and freshman Kiersten Falck picked up assists on the play.
A power-play goal by sophomore Molly Contini on a feed from senior Brianne Mahoney padded the lead for Princeton at 7:08 of the third. Koelzer earned her second assist of the night as well.
Tucker finished off the scoring with an unassisted empty-net goal at 19:07.
Junior Kimberly Newell made 12 saves in goal, while Penn State's Hannah Ehresmann stopepd 24 shots as Princeton outshot Penn State 28-13.
Princeton was 1 for 2 on the power play and 3 of 3 on the penalty kill.
The Tigers open league play next weekend. Nov. 7 & 8, when they travel to No. 8 Cornell and Colgate.
