Women's XC Gains Experience in Open Race at Paul Short

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (10/4/14) - The Princeton women's cross country team more than a dozen harriers to Lehigh's Paul Short Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 4 to compete in the women's open race. While no team score was recorded the Tigers top five all finished in the top 40.
Freshman Melissa Reed was the first Tiger across the line at 22:07 and was followed by the elder stateswoman Jackie Nicholas at 22:11. Freshmen Lydon Kersting and Melinda Renuart clocked 22:18 and 22:19 for 29th and 30th, respectively. Junior Birdie Hutton was 39th at 22:40 with classmate Amanda Chang four seconds back in 42nd place. Junior Summer Hanson and sophomore Jessica Ackerman both finished the 6k in less than 23 minutes as well.
In two weeks Princeton will again split the team into two, sending a group to Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute while the rest of the team stays back to host the Princeton Invitational on October 18.
