Women's Hockey Sweeps on the Road, Tops Colgate 4-2

Contini scored back-to-back goals in the first period to gain a 2-0 lead for the Tigers. Sophomore Kelsey Koelzer helped set up the first goal, while junior Jaimie McDonell and sophomore Hilary Lloyd worked the puck for the second.
Colgate's Breanne Wilson-Bennett cut it to a one-goal game at 6:24 in the second period but the Tigers pulled away with two more tallies in the middle frame.
Junior Cristin Shanahan scored the game winner at 14:59 on a pass from Kiersten Falck before Koelzer's first goal of the season. Senior Brianne Mahoney assisted on the goal that came just 23 seconds before time expired.
The Raiders replaced starting goaltender Ashlynne Rando after allowing four goals on 15 shots. Brittney Brooks played the third period and stopped the eight shots she faced.
On the other end of the ice Meghan Brennan snuck in a goal on junior Kimberly Newell at 5:19. Newell earned her third win of the season with a 29-stop performance.
Princeton had a chance to cash in on a 5x3 opporunity after a hooking call on Annika Zalewski and a delay of game penalty on Wilson-Bennett, setting up 1:26 of a two-player advantage. The Tigers put three shots on net with Brooks denying all three.
Colgate outshot Princeton 32-23 in the game, after Princeton had a heavy hand in shots in the first, 12-8, Colgate reversed that role in the second, 16-3. The third period was nearly even 8-7.
Princeton was 0 for 6 on the power play and 4 for 4 on the penaly kill.
Princeton is now 3-1 on the season and is 2-0 in the ECAC. The Tigers host another Tigers next weekend, when RIT comes to town. The Orange & Black teams face off on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 7 & 8 at 3 p.m., in the first game of a double doubleheader with the Princeton men's team.
