Daniel Ciampini matched his season's goal total and had a five-point night in all to lead Union to a 6-1 win over Princeton Saturday night at Messa Rink.
Ciampini, who had three goals in Union's first 11 games combined, had three goals and two assists for the Dutchmen, the defending NCAA champion who came into the game winless in the ECAC.
Aaron Ave had the lone Princeton goal, a power-play score midway through the first period that briefly tied the game at 1-1 after Ciampini had given Union the early lead. From there it was all Dutch, who retook the lead with 1:36 left in the first and then scored three times in the second.
Ave's goal was assisted by Ben Foster. Ben Halford, making his first start of the year in goal, made 31 saves.
Princeton is now 1-4-1, 1-3-0 in the ECAC. The Tigers are at St. Lawrence and Clarkson next weekend.
