November 16, 2014 | Women's Volleyball
BOX SCORE
Senior Kendall Peterkin capped one of the great seasons in Princeton volleyball history with 423 kills, eighth-most in program history, and she helped the Tigers clinch third place outright in the Ivy League with a 3-0 road win at Brown.
Peterkin led Princeton with 16 kills in a 29-27, 25-20, 25-19 victory over Brown in the 2014 finale for both programs. The Tigers finish the season 14-10 overall, 9-5 in the Ivy League, two matches ahead of Brown for the third spot in the league.
For at least one set, this match looked like it would match the drama of the first meeting, which Princeton won 21-19 in the fifth set. The Tigers had to hold off one match point before kills by Brittany Ptak and Cara Mattaliano gave Princeton a 29-27 win. Brown got out early in the second with a 7-3 lead, but Princeton won eight of the next nine points to reclaim momentum.
The Tigers took control from there, and they used a strong run midway through the third set to assume control of the match.
Senior Nicole Kincade punctuated the best season of her career with eight kills, five blocks and a pair of service aces, while Mattaliano added nine kills in the win. Sophomore setter Lauren Miller had 33 assists in the win, while junior libero Sarah Daschbach had 17 digs.
Head coach Sabrina King, the only player in Princeton history with two seasons of at least 400 kills, was able to play two other seniors in the match. Ginny Willis, a two-time All-Ivy setter, had two digs and an assist, while co-captain Francie Jenkins had three swings.
