Slow Start Dooms Men's Squash In 5-4 Road Loss At Navy
November 24, 2014 | Men's Squash
Princeton dug itself too deep a hole with a 0-3 first shift, but the Tigers battled hard and nearly pulled out the win. Princeton got 3-0 wins from both senior Tyler Osborne (No. 2) and Abhimanyu Shah (No. 8), and Michael LeBlanc rallied from a 2-0 deficit to force a fifth game at No. 5. Unfortunately, Josh Hughes came up with the big points at the end to claim an 11-7 win and move Navy to the brink of victory.
Senior Taylor Tutrone did his part for Princeton, securing a 3-0 win at the No. 4 position. That left two matches on court, and both went into the fifth game. The Tigers needed both, and they got a win at No. 1 from senior All-America Samuel Kang, who topped Andrew McGuinness 11-6 in the fifth game.
The final match would be a thriller, but it would go Navy's way. Sam Ezratty fought through a tough fourth game for a 13-11 win, but Reed Whitney bounced back in the fifth and reversed the score for a 13-11 win in the fifth.
Princeton will be off this week, but will return to the court Dec. 3 for a crucial home showdown against Drexel. The Dragons are currently ranked 12th nationally, though it fell 5-4 to seventh-ranked Franklin & Marshall this past weekend.
