PRINCETON, N.J. (11/25/14) - No. 4 Quinnipiac earned a 2-0 win over Princeton in women's hockey as the travel partners went toe-to-toe on Tuesday night at Hobey Baker Rink.
Chelsea Laden collected her eighth shutout of the season and improves her goals against average to 0.41. The Bobcats are unbeaten at 11-0-2 overall and sits atop the ECAC standings with a 6-0-1 mark.
Quinnipiac took a 1-0 lead at 10:17 of the first period, capitalizing on a turnover. Shiann Darkangeloa poked the puck free at the blue line and fed Eric Uden Johansson in front of the Princeton bench. Johansson took a shot through traffic and with Nicole Kosta on top of Kimberly Newell, Kosta popped the puck out to Darkangelo who was skating in on the open side and found an opening on the right side.
Two Bobcat penalties in the second period led to Princeton's power-play unit giving the team momentum but Laden stood strong in goal.
Cydney Roesler expanded the lead for the Bobcats at 7:36 in the third period with help from Meghan Turner and Nicole Brown with a nice 1-2-3 play.
Princeton outshot Quinnipiac in the third frame but couldn't find the equalizer, even with an extra skater for the final 2:25.
Newell made 25 saves in goal for Princeton as the Tigers drop to 6-4-1 overall and 4-3 in the ECAC.
The Tigers will host Minnesota for a two-game series this weekend, Nov. 29 & 30. Game times are at 2 p.m.
