PRINCETON, N.J. – The 13th-ranked Princeton University men's water polo team improved to 3-0 on the young season with a pair of wins over Johns Hopkins and Iona in its annual Invitational Tournament.
Opening the day with a hard-fought 10-8 victory over the Blue Jays, the Tigers closed out tournament play with a lopsided 20-11 decision over the Gaels. Princeton returns to action on Sept. 13-14 with matches against Cal Baptist, MIT and UC-Irvine at the Bruno Fall Classic.

Behind another solid showing in net from Mitrovic, The Tigers earned a 10-8 decision over Johns Hopkins in their second game of the 2014 Princeton Invitational.
Up 3-2 after the first quarter, Princeton netted four goals on the man-advantage in the second to build a 7-4 lead at the intermission. Down 9-5 entering the final frame, the Blue Jays scored three of the game's final four goals before ultimately seeing its comeback bid fall short.
A day after logging 15 saves against St. Francis, Mitrovic notched 16 stops against Johns Hopkins, including seven in the third quarter. Kayj Shannon and Eric Bowen each had three goals to pace the Tiger offense, while senior Drew Hoffenberg finished with three assists, two steals, two drawn ejections and a block.
Jordan Colina had a goal and a team-high three steals, while Nelson was 3-0 on sprints with a goal. Jovan Jeremic and Connor McGoldrick accounted for Princeton's other two tallies.

With three different players recording a hat-trick the 13th-ranked Princeton men's water polo team cruised to a 20-11 victory over Iona in the final game of its annual Invitational Tournament. Holding onto a slim 3-2 lead after the first, the Tigers used a decisive 8-2 second quarter run to blow the game open.
Nelson, Jeremic, Jaime Kuprenas and Bret Hinrichs each netted three goals, with Kuprenas also dishing out two assists. Bradley Wachtell and Bowen each had two goals, while Colina, Shannon, Hoffenberg and Kevin Zhang accounted for Princeton's other four scores.
Drawing two ejections, Curtis Fink also chipped in with two assists, while McGoldrick had two assists and two steals. Earning his first start of the season, Alex Gow finished with 15 saves.
